The information about the first release wave for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform for 2026 is out. Private preview is PP and General Available is GA.
I’ve also written a post about the release wave in Customer Insights – Journeys.
Increase agent accuracy by grounding the agent in customer insights
PP June ’26 / No GA
We get our own MCP Server! If you want to learn more about what MCP servers are, listen to the CRM Rocks podcast about MCP servers.
This feature opens the door to so many things! Now when sales want to know more about a customer or lead in Dynamics 365 – they can ask an agent and get information across all of D365 including Customer Insights – Data and interaction data from Customer Insights – Journey. The salesperson would get information that the customer has opened multiple emails, what the churn number is, how they’ve moved on the website. You’ll now get access to all the external data sources you have in Customer Insights – Data, so you can easily find more information about your contacts. Have you ever wondered which segments a contact is a member of – well, this will help you find out the key segments of your customers. There are so many things we can use this for – I for one am looking very much forward to testing it out!
Use Microsoft Fabric OneLake as a data source
PP April ’26 / GA July ’26
A feature that’s been pushed a couple of times, but now we’re getting closer to getting Fabric data in Customer Insights – Data. A lot of customers use Fabric to get one sentral place to keep all their data, now you’ll be able to use Fabric to get all that data and use it in Customer Insights – Data. For a lot of customers this will simplify the data catch, for others it means they don’t have to use multiple sources.
Target right audience based on signals from earlier campaigns
PP March ’26 / GA June ’26
This is another feature that’s in the release planner already. Be able to act on interaction data from Customer Insights – Journeys. You can see if a customer has opened an email, or clicked on links in an email and use that information in for example a segment. Maybe you want to push a google ad to customers who has received the email, but not clicked the link in it – that will now be possible.
That’s all that’s in the release wave notes, but there is one more feature I want to talk about, it’s in the release planner already and comes out in GA in March ’26.
Bonus: Easily select field values when working with segment conditions
No PP / GA March ’26
One thing that I’ve always struggled with when creating segments in Customer Insights – Data is to know which number the choice columns that I’m after is. Is “Active” in the Status 0 or 1? It’s something I as a user will always struggle with getting. Luckily in the March release we’re finally getting the label and not the value of the choice. Now I can select “Active/Inactive” and not 0/1.
Summary
Not that much in the release wave, but there are some game changers making life a lot easier for companies using Customer Insights – Data.
